My own journey to well being led me from a professional life as a dancer/choreographer to becoming a Certified Trager Practitioner and an Authorized Continuum Movement Teacher. I learned early in my strenuous dance career the importance of breath, self care and self inquiry. Back in the 80s I introduced yoga and Trager to my college dance students, taught Pilates in the early 90’s and now still ahead of the curve, I am the only Continuum Movement Teacher in the whole Midwest! Also ahead of the curve is what we are creating here at PIH and I am grateful to be on staff sharing my interests with my co-workers and clients. I have experience working within a medical setting and also working with my husband, Dr. Mark Hoch, who is also on staff at PIH. Since leaving the Arizona Center for Health and Medicine, for the Twin Cities (Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN) we both have held the dream of working once again with like minded professionals who share the interest and hold the value of mind, body and spiritual healing. My work is in the healing arts, bringing the arts to the science of healing. My mentors include: Dr. Gary David, Epistemics and Affect Psychology; Emilie Conrad, founder of Continuum Movement; Susan Harper, Em’oceans and Sensations; and all my students, peers and clients over the years that continue to feed my interest to teach, explore and grow in the mystery of life.

Both my work with Trager and Continuum Movement bring new approaches to how we move, think and feel in life. I believe we can not separate the body from the mind nor from the emotions. We can learn how to differentiate between what I name ‘the mind’s stories’ and the ‘silent level’ by taking one’s attention inwardly to the sensations alive in the body. Unfortunately most people are aware of pain as the main sensation felt in one’s body. I invite clients to travel beyond the pain, exploring realms of deep relaxation and learning how to integrate simple ways of being into one’s daily life. My rich background includes:

• Authorized Continuum Movement Teacher since 2001
• Certified Trager Practitioner 1991and Tutor - 2000
• Trager Practitioner /Yoga Instructor at the Arizona Center for Health and Medicine, Integrative Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona - 1994-1998
• Became a mom in ‘94 which steered life course towards working in the Healing Arts
• Guest Dance Professor at the University of Massachusetts - 1990-93
• Certified Pilates Instructor - 1990
• Professional Dancer/Choreographer in Europe - 1984-89
• Professional Dancer/Choreographer in NYC - 1977-84

Besides offering sessions to clients at PIH, I also co-teach Women’s Retreats with Glenda Cedarleaf, who is also on staff here at PIH. For more information please link to our blog.

And next Spring I will be co-teaching a Couple’s Relationship Workshop ”The Shame Game” with my husband, Dr. Hoch. Stay tuned for upcoming workshops and classes…
